The Radiant K610 Outdoor Petroleum Kiosk possesses extended temperature range components and environmental controls to endure temperature extremes of -22˚ F to 113˚ F with direct exposure to sun, rain, snow, and all other outdoor weather conditions permissible. This kiosk utilizes a new 15” sunlight readable LCD display with the latest in outdoor touch screen technology, and the increased size offers a 56% increase in display surface area versus 12” displays. The computer contained within the kiosk employs high performance and highly efficient Intel processors, but with lower power consumption thereby yielding a more reliable design. The outdoor petroleum kiosk also uses Intel’s Centrino™ Mobile Technology, which combines an Intel based low power processor, 855 chipset, and optional PRO/Wireless card. In addition, the terminal is based on Intel’s EmbeddedATX standard motherboard form factor to maintain an open and upgradeable platform. All of the major components within the Radiant K610 are serviceable / replaceable without the need for tools, resulting in a completely toolless return to service in the event of component issues.
Open Platform Highlights:
- Standard Intel Architecture
- Intel’s EmbeddedATX form factor motherboard
- Industry standard storage (hard drive or CF Card), DDR memory, PCI and PC Card (PCMCIA) expansion slots, and USB/RS232 connectivity
- Multiple operating systems including Windows XP Professional or XP-Embedded
The new modular design enables the unit to be configured for easy mounting while providing a variety of peripheral device upgrade options. The wall mount configuration can be placed on a wall, column, pillar, or pole. In the petroleum store environment, the kiosk allows for food and merchandise selection from a location outside of the typical “store” and thereby increasing the overall speed of service for the customer. The robustness of the design enables the kiosk to be placed virtually anywhere at a PCS site, thereby offering maximum flexibility for placement in high customer traffic areas.
The new modular design also accommodates a variety of peripheral options specific to petroleum and convenience store requirements. The kiosk includes the sunlight readable display with integrated touch screen, a 3 ¼” receipt printer that can be configured for 40 column width, and two speakers (stereo). The additional options available are detailed in the Optional Features section.
The outdoor petroleum kiosk includes a 15” active matrix, color, 1024 X 768 main display with an integrated 3M Near Field Imaging™ (NFI) touch screen. The 15” display is a 56% increase in surface area over the 12” models which allows for improved ease of use with larger more graphical commands, more application design flexibility, better viewability and better resolution. The sunlight readable high-bright, active matrix screen of the Radiant K610 provides the best possible display quality, with excellent contrast and brightness. Additionally, the dual VGA outputs allow another display to be driven to display additional informational or promotional material.
The NFI touch screen provides a very durable, accurate, and fast touch interface even with a gloved finger. This touch technology also prevents erroneous sensing of insects or precipitation.
The computer also has multiple powered serial ports including eight RS232 and four USB ports. This provides expansion capabilities if new devices/peripherals need to be supported without having to buy an add-on expander. Also, the powered serial ports eliminate the need for power bricks, thereby reducing another point of potential failure.
The kiosk computer supports multiple operating systems including Windows XP Professional and XP Embedded, and therefore supports any Windows based application. The connectivity provides full support for TCP/IP networking on a 10BaseT or 100 BaseT Ethernet network and it has full support for a wireless network (optional). Upgradeability and expandability are fundamental to the computer, which is exemplified by the ability to upgrade RAM and storage. It allows further expansion through the low-profile PCI and PC Card slot. Toolless service of the MSR, ticket printer and the display / computer module allow for simple troubleshooting and replacement (if necessary). This attention to serviceability results in minimal down time due to non-functional components.
The environmentally hardened design of the kiosk offers the capability to operate in virtually any environment within the United States geography. The environmental controls within the kiosk enclosure monitor and maintain the temperature and humidity level within the operating ranges of the components to maintain functionality and maximize component longevity. Three internal circulation fans circulate the air inside the enclosures when needed to assist in the moderation (heating when environment is cool, and cooling when the environment is hot) of the temperature. Heating strips are specifically placed in the display and receipt modules to maintain minimum operating temperatures.
