Retail Automation Products Partners with New York City's Leading Culinary Educational Facility

The Institute of Culinary Education equips students for fast-paced industry with Aloha suite of point-of-sale applications and Radiant hardware

NEW YORK (Aug. 10, 2005) —In an effort to expand its educational curriculum, The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE), one of New York’s finest culinary educational facilities, entered into a partnership with Radiant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: RADS) and reseller partner, Retail Automation Products.

Under the arrangement, Radiant will outfit the 25,000 square foot 23rd street facility with its award-winning Aloha suite of point-of-sale (POS) applications and industry leading Radiant 1550 color, touch-screen terminals. Radiant’s local New York representative, Retail Automation Products (RAP PoS), will provide back-office hardware as well as ongoing educational seminars designed to inform aspiring food service professionals on a myriad of hospitality technology solutions available.

“We are very excited to offer our students the opportunity to learn about some of the leading technology solutions in the hospitality industry. We have always focused on culinary management, but understanding the technology is extremely important to remain successful in today’s competitive market,” said Stephen Zagor, director of the culinary management program for the Institute.

“Technology can be confusing, especially for the individual who is not technical in nature,” said Mark Buonagurio, a managing partner with Retail Automation Products. “Our approach will be to work the technology into the fabric of the curriculum in such a way that is not intimidating, and allows the student to learn through actual use and experience.”

“Radiant values the opportunity to invest in the local New York community by providing the equipment necessary that will prepare future culinary leaders,” said Martina Baletkova, New York regional sales manager for Radiant Systems’ hospitality division. “Establishing a solid presence in the culinary center of the world, New York, is extremely important to Radiant as we serve local operators through exceptional reseller partners such as Retail Automation Products.”

About The Institute of Culinary Education
Founded in 1975, The Institute of Culinary Education has grown to be one of the nation's leading centers for culinary learning. ICE runs over 8,000 classes annually in its newly expanded 42,000-square-foot facility, divided among three separate divisions: career training, recreational, and special events.

Culinary Management, an innovative course, developed in 2000, is designed for the individual who wants to manage or open and own a culinary business. A culinary business is broadly defined to include food-and- beverage operations such as restaurants, catering companies and specialty-food or pastry shops. Compared to longer, more traditional restaurant-management programs, the Institute's CMD program has a strong entrepreneurial and practical focus.
