Georgia Aquarium Deploys Radiant Systems Outdoor Kiosks
The world's largest aquarium installs outdoor kiosks through Radiant Systems' partner Gateway Ticketing Systems
ATLANTA (Jan. 31, 2006) – The Radiant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: RADS) Entertainment Division announces installation of its outdoor customer kiosks at the Georgia Aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium. Radiant partnered with Gateway Ticketing Systems, Inc. to deliver Radiant’s outdoor kiosk hardware for a reliable, cost-effective solution to handle the high-volume of ticket sales at this popular attraction.
“We’ve received a tremendous response from the community of Atlanta and in fact have seen visitors come from around the world,” said Beach Clark, vice president of Information Technology at the Georgia Aquarium. “We want our guests to feel welcome from the moment they arrive, and that begins the moment they purchase their tickets. We chose Radiant’s self-service kiosks because they provide an easy to use solution that is highly reliable.”
Approximately 10,000 people attended the grand opening to be among the first to observe more than 500 species from around the world, including whale sharks and beluga whales. The Georgia Aquarium anticipated a huge response from the community and wanted to facilitate visitor entry in a timely fashion. One major goal was to ensure patrons had a positive experience purchasing tickets from easy to use technology that is consistently reliable.
“Long lines can spoil a customer’s experience causing them to think twice before returning for repeat visits,” says Chris Lybeer, president of the Radiant Systems Entertainment Division. “Radiant Systems delivered self-service ticketing devices to the Georgia Aquarium to give patrons a fast, clean option when purchasing tickets, which will shorten entry lines, and keep box office labor to a minimum.”
The Radiant Systems K600 kiosk is environmentally designed to withstand challenges of outdoor usage as well as high transaction volume, continuous operation and contaminants such as dirt and grease. Radiant has installed approximately 1,000 outdoor kiosks in entertainment venues such as cinemas, zoos, amusement parks and transportation facilities. Venues see clear value in providing patrons with a self-service device, including reduced lines, decreased labor costs and an overall enhanced customer experience.
